Eclipse U11 Girls win
Thanksgiving Tournament
Players from Eclipse red, white and black u11 girls
combined to enter the klein thanksgiving tournament. The team battled torrential
rain, howling winds and a lost tooth to emerge victorious. The girls bonded
quickly and the great team spirit resulted in four straight victories while
scoring eleven goals and conceding only two. We are red, we are white, we are
eclipse dynamite!

..........................................................................................................................................................................................
A Combined U12 Eclipse team
win the U13 bracket in the Klein Tournament
Our U12 teams combined forces to
participate in their first 11v11 game during the Klein Thanksgiving. A total of
32 players distributed in two teams got their first experience on the big field.
The teams played in the U13 bracket, a year up, and despite the torrential rain
and cold, our girls fought really hard and played to a very high standard. One
of the teams came up victorious outscoring opponents 24-1. GO ECLIPSE !!We are
looking forward to seeing all these girls show all their skills in the big
field.

U11 White, Thanksgiving
Tournament!!!!
The Eclipse White 01
Boys finished runner up
in the Klein
Thanksgiving Tournament.
The U11 Boys survived
rain, mud, cold and wind
to earn a birth in the
Championship game.
Playing in their third
game of the day
eventually took it's
toll as they lost 3-2 to
the Dynamic Tigres. The
team played unselfishly
and spread the wealth
with seven players
scoring over the
weekend.

Congratulations to the Eclipse Galaxy Boys 03
Congratulations for winning first place in the U9 Silver division at the MCUSA
Friendship tournament on Oct 8-9. The boys scored a total of 7 goals and only
conceded 2 goals; with two games ending in a shut-out. Great job Galaxy!

Congratulations to
the Eclipse 00 White Girls
For winning the Austin Labor Day Cup Tournament. Our Lady Champs had a tough
time getting out of their group with a tie, a win
and a loss. The loss in their
group happened the last game to a very tough Challenge Club team. But after some
divine help from the soccer gods, they advanced to the semis. With a strong pep
talk from trainer Jordan and Rafa, the girls played their hearts out in the
semis and advanced with a 1-0 win thanks to a great goal by Hannah Johnson. In
the final game, our Lady Champs continued to play with determination and a lot
of heart. Bailey Rivenes scored from goal to goal while playing goalkeeper in
the first half, putting our team up 1-0. In the second half the Challenge team
tied the game in a penalty.
The game finished in a tie and had to go to
penalties.
Our awesome goalkeeper Kristin Orth blocked two penalties and another
one hit the goal post. Our first two shots went in, thanks
to Clare Valdez and
Sophie Wedgeworth. Unfortunately Alayna Flolid had her shot miraculously blocked
by their goalkeeper. It was
up to Isabella Gallegos to seal the game, and she
didn’t miss. Eclipse 00 White Girls were declared Champions.
A big thanks goes out to everyone involved: the parents, the trainers (Jordan, Rafa, Rob, and
Chris), and most importantly the girls!

Eclipse Soccer Club would like to welcome a soccer
legend
to their training staff. Adrian Camacho played for some of the top teams in
Mexico throughout his career, teams such as Cruz Azul, America, Irapuato and
Santos. Camacho was a member of the Mexican National team for many years, and
had the opportunity to be in many World Cup Qualifying games for Mexico. He was
part of, one of Mexico's most important generation of soccer players (such as;
Hugo Sanchez, Javier Aguirre, Manuel Negrete, etc...)that formed part of the
team that played in the Mexico 86 World Cup, one of the most memorable World
Cups ever!!!
Eclipse is
thrilled to have Camacho a World Cup figure as part of it's training Staff!
Welcome Camacho!

Congratulations to the Eclipse 98 White Boys
Team started off the fall
2011 season in promising fashion by winning the Texans Warm Up Cup Medal
competition and following it up by getting through to the semi finals of the
Houston Labor Day Cup the next week. The boys did incredibly well playing in
really challenging conditions of 100 degrees plus of heat one weekend and 30-40
mph winds with dust storms the next. In nine days they played 8 games, scored
12 goals and conceded just two in open play, finally going out of the Houston
Labor Day Cup on penalties after a 0:0 tie in really difficult conditions. Best
of luck for the fall season.

..........................................................................................................................................................................................
The girls Eclipse 99 White team
reached the finals of their eight-team bracket in the Austin Labor Day Cup with
a combined record of 3-1-1. It was a weekend of patience, determination, and
persistence as the girls twice rallied from halftime deficits to win. After the
girls battled Dallas Juventus North to a scoreless draw early Saturday to start
the tournament, they were placed a goal behind to the Georgetown Force White on
a penalty early in the second game. Undeterred, the girls played as they had
prepared and scored two second half goals to win 2-1. On Sunday, the team gave
up a first half goal to Space City Red then rallied again with three second half
goals for the 3-1 victory. In the semifinals against Challenge Dynamite, the
squad played to a scoreless draw late in the game and it appeared a shootout
would determine who advanced. Again, the girls showed confidence that if they
continued to create chances backed with strong defending, the breakthrough would
come. The girls scored two late goals to advance to the finals for a rematch
with Juventus. Although Eclipse created several chances throughout and allowed
few opportunities defensively, a wind-aided goal in the first minute and a late
second half goal put the girls on the short end of a 2-0 decision. The team is
managed by Jana Roberds and is looking forward to a great season with trainer,
Jennie Altherr.

Eclipse U17 Girls Black Takes Home Austin
Labor Day Cup
After battling through five matches in 3 days, 100 degree heat, and gusting
winds, the Eclipse U17s claimed the
Austin Labor Day Cup in decisive fashion (3-1 pks) this past weekend. With a
dominant 2-0 win over Shreveport (LA) and
an emotional and physical 0-0 draw with Albion Black, Eclipse was able to secure
the top seed coming out of group play, setting
them up for a quarterfinal showdown with a Lonestar side that had defeated them
only two weeks before. With some new
confidence and quality organization, Eclipse was able to comfortably dispatch
their Austin counterparts 2-0, setting up a
tough semifinal against the top seed coming out of group A, Albion. In the
semifinal, Eclipse came out firing, converting in the first minute and never
letting up, finishing with a convincing 5-0 win, setting up a Monday final.
In the
final, Eclipse faced off once again with Albion Black. Despite going down to 10
players before halftime and going
against the wind in the second half, the ladies patience, organization, and
suffocating defending was too
much for the Hurricanes to overcome.
Another clean
sheet pushed the match to penalties where Caroline Carvajal, Diana Aguilar, and
Kelli Regan calmly converted and Heather Byrne stopped three Albion shooters to
take home the cup, 3-1 in pks.
'It was a
quality weekend all around and a great start to our season' says U17 Head Coach
Chris Maravalli. 'To deal with such tough conditions and to not concede a goal
throughout the tournament really is a testament to the work the players have put
in early.
I think its safe to say that we played the most attractive style of soccer and
were very organized defensively.
We are trying
to build a new culture here, at Eclipse, and these players have bought into what
we are trying to do and are
committed to making Eclipse the top soccer experience in Houston. Winning our
first tournament is a great jumping
off point and hopefully bodes well for our development and success this season'.
Team members
are: Kelli Regan, Heather Byrne, Callie Ballard, Kayla Cortez, Soni Bhalla,
Caroline Carvajal, Lizzy Brydon, Alexa Sanchez, Lindsey Biggart, Maci Urban,
Lauren Ahart, Hannah Smith, Diana Aguilar, Chelise George, Annie Waite, Katie
Bernard, Cassandra Rodriguez, Katherine Civitillo, Meg Mougel.

The girls Eclipse 99 Black team
had a very successful weekend, winning the Premier B Division at the Austin
Labor Day Cup, finishing 4-0-1. It was a weekend of solid execution of play, as
well as terrific desire. The girls began the tourney with a sound 4-0 win over
AHFC Blue. In their second game of the day, Eclipse scored two superb second
half goals to beat Challenge Blitz 2-0. On Sunday morning, Eclipse had their
only loss of the weekend. They conceded one goal in the first half and one in
the second half, for an end result of 2-0 score against the Lonestars Red STH.
Later that afternoon, they faced Houston Express Navy in the semi-finals.
Eclipse had
several scoring opportunities, finishing the game with a 1-0 win. The win would
declare a rematch with Lonestars in the championship game. After an exciting
back & forth game, the game ended with a 0-0 tie in regulation. Penalty kicks
would follow, with Eclipse winning it in the 7th kick! The girls have worked
very hard in the last couple of weeks, and it showed with winning the ALDC! The
team is managed by Dwayne Harris, and trained by Jennie Altherr.

Congratulations to the
Eclipse 01G White
Congratulation girls! You withstood the
relentless heat, the relentless wind and our relentless opponents. The
4-0 weekend was not only special in that it ended in a championship, but it was
the first shoot-out for most of the girls. Your calm and cool demeanor in that
situation was a joy to watch. We are very proud of the effort and hard work you
put in year after year to make this possible. Additional thanks to Madi Champlin
for guesting with us.

Congratulations to the
Eclipse Girls U12 Black
team
Congratulations to the Eclipse Girls U12 Black team
who finished in second place in the Premier Division of the Austin Labor Day
Cup. The team battled difficult weather challenges with heat and strong winds
to end the final game in a tie. They unfortunately lost the final in a penalty
shootout (4-3), but showed great teamwork and cohesiveness. Overall, a great
showing for the girls U12 Black team. Way to go, girls!

Eclipse 01B Black, Premier Finalist in the Austin Labor
Day Cup 2011
Congratulations to our new U11 Black team for taking Finalist in the Premier
Bracket in the Austin Labor Day Cup, the weekend of September 3rd - 5th. The
boys played outstanding in all games by defeating the top U11 teams from the
Austin and San Antonio area to reach the final game. The final game ended as a 1
-1 tie in regulation time and went straight to a shootout. Because of a few
unfortunate calls by the referee, the momentum shifted in favor of the Lonestar
team, which resulted in our loss in the shootout. It was a tough loss, but it
will only make this team even smarter, stronger and better. Job well done boys!
Special
thanks to all the wonderful and committed parents for getting their sons to
Austin and to the fields on time. Big thanks to our trainer Matty Kirk for
having our boys prepared and ready to play these big games.

a U11 team.
The girls scored 12 goals and only gave up 4 and had two shut-outs.

Eclipse
Whacks Winchester Boca Jr 5-2
| |
Eclipse 94 Black started their quest for
a US Club Soccer National title by smashing the Northern California
Winchester Boca Jr club team 5-2 on a 98 degree day in Boise, Idaho.
7th minute. Alex played a ball into Purav on the right side, who shot
from near the top of the box to score the first goal.
13th minute. Mitch played a long looping ball from the midfield line
right up the center to Donovan who hit it on the volley for a nice goal
and a 2-0 lead.
17th minute. Winchester Boca came back when their number 5 used some
speed and skill to break through our back line and score. 3 goals scored
17 minutes into the game and 36th minute. Taylor Ellson says he “was in
the right place at the right time.” When Conner Holley passed the ball
into Mitchell Boullt; Mitchell collided into a defender, and the ball
ended up in front of Taylor Ellson who scored with a nice shot to put us
up 3-1.
61st minute: Purav was about 35 yards out on the right side of the field
and played it over both defenders to Alex Chaulet, who played a left
footed volley into the goal. Alex said, “Balaban was screaming ‘last
defender’ all of the time to get me to play even with the last defender.
I had to get there or I was about to ride the bench for the rest of the
game.
66th minute: Purav had the ball, took a player, played to Alex on the
left who was between the sweeper and two other defenders. Alex played it
past the goalkeeper and then slammed it in for emphasis.
The game was a little scrappy with a number of yellow cards issued for
some thoughtless moves by the Eclipse and the Winchester Boca. The Boca
scored a final goal in the 90th minute to end the game on a small up
note, succumbing 5-2 to a superior Eclipse squad.
Balaban commented after the game: We played a good Northern California
team, and yet we were far superior. We played a little different
formation today, and the boys reacted to it quite well. The boys did
very well - congratulations to the boys - they played very well. It was
a better start than I ever imagined. |

Eclipse 94 Black won the US Club Soccer Regional Tournament
in Denver, Colorado today by
defeating the Colorado Storm in the finals 2-1.
Alex Chaulet put a great through ball through to Mason in the 19th minute
of the game. Mason took the volley on the bounce and flicked it over the
onrushing goalkeeper to score
the first goal of the game.
Minutes later, the Storm fouled Mason near the edge of the box. The referee
granted Eclipse a free kick that
Purav Modi powered into the far left side of the net for goal.
The second half saw Eclipse take a more defensive posture, giving the Storm more
control of the ball, but few real
opportunities to score. The Storm scored on a nice goal after a scrum in front
of the net to pull within one in the 77th minute.
The final 13 minutes were stressful (at least for the spectators) as the Eclipse
played out the final 13 minutes to
capture the title.
Next stop: Boise, Idaho for the US Club Soccer National Championship
