Invitation to Join the Eclipse U8 HYSA Team or U9/10 Academy Programs
Eclipse Soccer Club invites your son or daughter to experience soccer at
a higher level. Consider joining the Eclipse U8 HYSA Team or U9/10
Academy program, both of which offer professional training and a
slightly higher level of competition compared to recreational soccer.
The club offers two
programs for U8 and U9/10 aged players -- some players will choose to
play in our recreational soccer program, while others will choose to
play in our Eclipse HYSA or Academy programs.
Parents often wonder
which program to choose for their young player. There are differences
between our recreational soccer program and the Eclipse HYSA
Team/Academy programs, and this information explains those differences.
Additionally, we believe the following will explain how the Eclipse
HYSA Team/Academy programs differ from the Eclipse Select program that
begins at the U11 age group.
Take a look at the information, and then drop us a line if you still
want to talk about it. Either way, you can't go wrong because the club
offers a choice between our fine recreational soccer program and the
additional opportunities available in our Eclipse HYSA Team/Academy

U8 HYSA Team and U9/10 Academy Programs
The club’s philosophy for this age group is simple: We want to develop each
individual player’s soccer skills in an environment that is fun and keeps the
kids interested in playing soccer. We want these U8 and U9/10 players to develop
the best dribbling, passing, and shooting skills possible over the two-year
period, and give them numerous playing situations to exercise their
decision-making processes. It is interesting to note that winning games is not a
significant goal of the program. Wins will occur, but only as a byproduct of
their individual skill development. Since skill development is the primary goal,
we recommend that no one will play more than half of a game as a goalkeeper, and
every player is guaranteed at least 50% play time in each game so that they have
ample opportunities to make decisions on the field of play.
Eclipse HYSA/Academy teams are formed shortly after the conclusion of
evaluations. Evaluations are held each year in early May at Lost Creek Park
after which the trainers will form teams based upon player turnout. Click
here for information on evaluation dates.
Team meetings will be called
with the teams' parents within a week or two after team formation. Team fees are
due in July. Registration fees are due when you register your player during the

over a 4-month period.
The Eclipse training staff
publishes annually a list of recommended tournaments. The Director of Training
decides which tournaments the team will participate in.
Fall season will find Eclipse
teams playing in the Houston Youth Soccer Association (HYSA) against other clubs
from the Southwest Houston area.
Eclipse HYSA/Academy teams
will consist of up to 12 players per team, but will never have a roster that
exceeds 12 players per STYSA rules.
All teams are trained at Lost
Creek Park in Sugar Land, one of the finest lighted soccer facilities in Texas.
